The league is as week 12, which is a good time to start honing in on the Race to the playoffs in each conferences. Right now the only undefeated team in the league are the New England Patriots sitting at a perfect 10-0. If the Playoffs were to start right now the Patriots would have the only Bye Week, as the league offices in their great wisdom added an extra Wildcard spot making home field advantage just that much more important. It's not every day that the league does something that makes sense, but this is surely one of them. Adding the extra playoff spot gives a ton more teams an opportunity late in the season to keep striving especially in a league of parity. It also forces the teams at the top to keep their foot on the gas so they don't lose their Bye Week, as well as their Coveted Home field advantage.
In the NFC If the Playoffs started today:
- West - Seattle Seahawks 8-2
- North - Green Bay Packers 8-2
- East - New York Giants 7-3
- South - Atlanta Falcons 7-3
- Wildcard - Arizona Cardinals 7-3
- Wildcard - San Francisco 49ers 7-3
- Wildcard - Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-4
Right now in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks lead the way in the NFC West with a 8-2 record, and would have the Bye, and homefield if the Playoffs started today. It's no wonder as they have Russell Wilson playing at a MVP Caliber, with a sixth sense ability to get the ball to D.K. Metcalf in the Redzone as he is 2nd in the league in receiving Touchdowns with 10. They Seahawks can't rest on their laurels However as the Green Bay Packers are but a mere percentage point behind them. The Packers can easily see a plan how in the next few weeks could see themselves as top dog in the conference, not to mention leading the way in the North. A healthy Aaron Rodgers, a dominant running back in Aaron Jones, and a defense that has Kenny CLark, Za'Darius Smith, and Shutdown corner Jaire Alexander cannot be overlooked. The New York Football Giants are once again on top of the NFC East, handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley at a 70% Clip. Barkley is #1 for the MVP Race, and leads the league in rushing with with 1,620yards, and 21 touchdowns. In the South the Atlanta Falcons are on top with a 7-3 record but it is dangerously close in the South as they are only up 1 game in the Division. The Wildcard spots, are just that. Absolutely Wild. The Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers still have designs on the Seahawks spot in the West, as they are only a game back. However if they are unable to catch them, they can't be for certain that their position is safe as they are now. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, are both 7-4, with the Buccs in possession of the 3rd, and final Wildcard spot. Also the Minnesota Vikings are 6-4, and find themselves in a damn near must win in week 12 as they are paired up against the Carolina Panthers in a game that has huge Playoff ramifications.
In the AFC if the playoffs started today:
- East - New England Patriots 10-0
- South - Tennessee Titans 8-2
- West - Kansas City Chiefs 7-3
- North - Pittsburgh Steelers - 7-3
- Wildcard - Baltimore Ravens - 6-4
- Wildcard - Buffalo Bills 6-4
- Wildcard - Los Angeles Chargers - 6-4
The New England Patriots are 10-0, and lead the East, as well as would have Homefield advantage if the playoffs were to begin today. The Patriots are doing it were no one thought they could, however with a Defense that is lockdown, and Sony Michel leading the league in rushing Touchdowns at 21 the Patriots are the most dangerous team in the league. With the Patriots being 10-0 the Tennessee Titans will be playing in Wildcard weekend unless the Patriots hit the equivalent of a landmine. In Years Past the Titans would be prepping for a first round bye, however those days are just that. Gone Past. The Titans lead the south by handing the Ball off to Freight train of a back Derrick "John" Henry, and Defenses are paying the price. In the West Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes are on top with the greatest offense the league has ever seen. With Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Mecole Hardman trying to put a cover on this boiling pot is nigh impossible. The Steelers lead the North with an aging Big Ben Roethlisberger. Headcoach Hac3443 would love nothing more than to get his team one more chip before Big Ben Rides off into the Sunset. Good thing he has all the metrics one would need as they have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Cameron Heyward, and a slew of other players all good where you need to be to make a great post-season run.
Just like in the NFC the Wildcard is just that. Wild. Anytime 6 time Hall of Fame participant Tommanowns is in the Wildcard you know it's going to be bananas. Right now 3 teams are tied for the final 3 playoff spots all with 6-4 records. Those teams are the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and the Los Angeles Chargers. All 3 teams are expecting a tough way to go down the stretch as seemingly every game will be meaningful. The Bengals are a percentage point out at 6-4, while the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, are both 5-5. Teams with a punchers chance are the Las Vegas Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts at 4-6
