NFASL Madden 21 Season II Preview

The NFC is home of Super Bowl XXXVII Champions the Green Bay Packers, so this is where we start our previews. There were several moves made over the Off-season, and beginning parts of Season II that it is mind boggling to say the Least. Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, Cameron Wake, Alex mack, Jason Witten, and a myriad of other big time players retired. Big Ben Roethlisberger, Alex Smith, Jared Goff, and other staples of franchised were released, and let go into free agency. Dak Prescott, Stephon Gilmore, Roquan Smith, Eddie Goldman, Kyle Fuller, Richard Sherman, and many others were all traded to different franchises, and that's just off the top of my head. Season 1 was a mind warp, and we have 9 more to go! With that said, lets preview the NFC East for Madden 21, Season II.

NFC North:

Green Bay Packers 14-2 Headcoach Deuce4975 (Division Winner)

The Green Bay Packers Won Super Bowl XXXVII, and are the heavy favorite to win Super Bowl XXXVIII. With Aaron Rodgers now 37 years old, his time being one of the games best Quarterbacks should be winding down sooner rather, than later as Father Time is undefeated. In the meantime, They are well within their rights to lean on a ferocious defense, and a solid run game lead by Aaron Jones.

Notable Players:

  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Davante Adams
  • Jaire Alexander
  • Kenny Clark
  • Aaron Jones
  • Za'Darius Smith

Minnesota Vikings 10-6 Headcoach dhontos (Wildcard)

The Minnesota Vikings made the playoffs a year ago, and represented themselves well when they were there. unfortunately their championship window could be closing as they are one of the older teams in the league. With Harrison Smith, Michael Pierce, Adam Thielen, linval Joseph, Kirk Cousins, Kyle Rudolph, Anthony Barr, and Eric Kendricks staples of their team all pushing 30 the Vikings need to make as many moves to win right now as possible.

Notable Players:

  • Dalvin Cook
  • Harrison Smith
  • Danielle Hunter
  • Michael Pierce
  • Adam Thielen
  • Yannick Ngakoue

Detroit Lions 2-14 Headcoach Hitsquad954

The Detroit Lions were 2-14 a year ago, but have made several off-season moves to make sure a repeat does not happen. They traded for Dak Prescott, and Drafted Shut down corner Patrick Surtain II. adding Surtain to a secondary that includes their #1 Draft Pick from 2 years ago Jeff Okudah, Justin Coleman, and Desmond Trufant the Lions arguably have the best secondary in the game. Teams should expect a lot of Man coverage, and blitzing in front making for a resurgent Lions Team.

Notable Players:

  • Dak Prescott
  • Kenny Golladay
  • Trey Flowers
  • Justin Coleman

Chicago Bears 2-14 Headcoach Jady_Tru

The Chicago Bears at 2-14 a year ago found themselves with the #1 Pick in the Draft, and used it to select Generational Talent Trevor Lawrence from Clemson. With the QB of the Future in the building many are expecting Coach JD, to get back to his winning ways, however winning is a mindset that can be lost just like your house keys. The Bears did make other notable moves moving on from Bears Staples such as Roquan Smith, Eddie Goldman, and Kyler Fuller Trading them to the Jets. They also acquired JC Jackson, and Joe Thuney from the Patriots, and broke the Bank to Sign Keanu Neal in Free agency.

Notable Players:

  • Khalil Mack
  • ALlen Robinson II
  • Eddie Jackson
  • Keanu Neal

NFC West:

San Francisco 49ers 13-3 Headcoach Kaliko_420 (Division Winner)

The San Francisco 49ers won the most competitive Division in the NFC behind the 2000 yard performance of Raheem Mostert in the regular season. However the struggles of their passing game, as it often does for team to reliant on the run came back to bite them in the playoffs. The Niners have vowed to get Jimmy G More involved balancing out their offense, which may lead to less regular season wins, but better success long term. The Niners have all the makings of a stellar passing attack with George Kittle the Games best tightend in the middle of the field. With Raheem Mostert at 29 years old a step down is coming, so winning now should be their #1 priority.

Notable Players:

  • George Kittle
  • Raheem Mostert
  • Nick Bosa
  • Trent Williams
  • Fred Warner
  • Arik Armstead
  • Kwon Alexander

Seattle Seahawks 11-5 Headcoach IcyyCA (Wildcard)

The Seattle Seahawks took a huge step last season garnering the Wildcard, and posting an 11 win season. They will be looking to take the next step as Russell Wilson is one of the games best quarterbacks, and has one of the best receiving Corps in football. They are getting older, and are like a lot of teams with a window to win now. They were quiet in the off-season deciding to build in house.

Notable Players:

  • Russell Wilson
  • D.K. Metcalf
  • Jamal Adams
  • Bobby Wagner

Arizona Cardinals 11-5 Headcoach Papalon24 (Wildcard)

The Arizona Cardinals made the playoffs a year ago the 3rd team in the NFC West to do so. The Addition of DeAndre Hopkins to go along with Kyler Murray took this team to the next level as the Cardinals have all the makings of a super Bowl contender. They added Hunter Henry, and Chris Godwin in the off-season forcing teams to honor every aspect of the field on offense, while on defense they have Isaiah Simmons who moved to corner, along with Byron Murphy Jr., and Chandler Jones on defense the Cardinals are the favorites to come out of the West.

Notable Players:

  • Kyler Murray
  • DeAndre Hopkins
  • Chandler Jones
  • Chris Godwin

Los Angeles Rams 2-14 Headcoach brazyxai_

The Los Angeles Rams have easily the best defensive player in the Game as Aaron Donalds presence must be accounted for at all times on the Football Field. However Donald was unable to help the Rams from a 2-14 season. They were able to Move up in the draft, and selected Trey Lance out of North Dakota State a player many think will be a major talent in the NFL. That moved signaled the end for Jared Goff, as he was released, and allowed to go into free agency. The Rams also added Marlon Mack to an already crowded running back room as Cam Akers, and Darrell henderson all will be tasked with splitting duties.

Notable Players:

  • Aaron Donald
  • Jalen Ramsey
  • Cooper Kupp

NFC South:

Atlanta Falcons 13-3 Headcoach PrimtiveMind (Division Winner)

The Atlanta Falcons were 13-3 a year ago, and won the NFC South but fell short in the playoffs to the  eventual Super Bowl Winners the Green Bay Packers. The Falcons did not stand by, but went and traded for the games best Corner Back Stephon Gilmore with Davante Adams in mind come the Post-season. They also gave Julio Jones another Super Star on the outside pairing him with Michael Galllup who should stop teams from being able to double Julio, down in, and down out. The Falcons are going all in on this season, and only the Lombardi Trophy, and Hall of Champions will do!

Notable Players:

  • Stephon Gilmore
  • Julio Jones
  • Grady Jarrett
  • Deion Jones
  • Michael Gallup
  • Matt Ryan

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-6 Headcoach Kevin_3447

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a bold move going in favor of the Rookie Feleipe Franks out of Arkansas over the 1st ballot Hall of Famer Tom Brady. However many think that the Buccaneers will go back to Brady if the Rookie struggles at any point in the season as the Buccaneers are designed to win now. They added Super Star Back Kenyan Drake, along with Courtland Sutton in the off-season to help the Rookie along. The Buccaneers narrowly missed the playoffs a year ago, but should get their this year if they don't hit a mid-season swoon like they did last year.

Notable Players:

  • Mike Evans
  • Rob Gronkowski
  • Courtland Sutton
  • Kenyan Drake
  • Devin White
  • Tom Brady

Carolina Panthers 9-7 Headcoach conkQB12

The Carolina Panthers Hired a new coach in the later parts of the season a year ago with Coach conkQB12 taking over the fracnhise. Coahc Conk then began a overhaul of his team opting to bring in Matthew Stafford from the Lions in a trade, and Lavonte David their High Dollar Free agent Pick up. The Panthers even through al that Turmoil were still able to go 9-7 on the season, and should compete for a playoff spot this year. With the games best Dual Purpose Back Christian McCaffrey they have the makings of a match up nightmare that most teams cannot contend with.

Notable Players:

  • Christian McCaffrey
  • D.J. Moore
  • Lavonte David
  • Kawann Short
  • Donte Jackson
  • Matthew Stafford

New Orleans Saints 3-13 Headcoach PantherAlumni74

The New Orleans Saints saw Drew Brees retire at the end of last Season, after struggling through one of their franchises worst records of 3-13. With Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and Cameron Jordan going 3-13 seemed nearly impossible. They did another head scratching move opting for penei Sewell the dominant left tackle from Oregon in place of drafting the heir aparent Trey Lance especially after losing Brees. With Andy Dalton as the Signal caller this season, the Saints must have a long term plan that only they know about.

Notable Players:

  • Michael Thomas
  • Cameron Jordan
  • Alvin Kamara
  • Marshon Lattimore

NFC East:

New York Giants 12-4 Headcoach THE-Kiid-Kenny (Division Winner)

The New York Giants easily won the NFC East behind the Leagues MVP Saquon Barkley. Barkley had nearly 3000 combined yards, and was hands down the Favorite to win it from the start of the season. With the addition of Sammy Watkins, and the further development of Daniel Jones the Giants are expected to have an explosive offense. The loss of Speed at tightend could come back to haunt them however as Evan Engrams speed could not be matched by 90% of the Middle linebackers in the league.

Notable Players:

  • Saquon Barkley
  • Darius Slayton
  • Sammy Watkins

Washington Football Team 5-11 Headcoach Newmoon001

The Washington Football Team as they are now called have built their team from the Defensive line out as Chase Young, and Montez Sweat are both premiere Pass rushers in the league. With a D-Line that has 4 first round draft picks they are a team that has to be acounted for. The Football Team also moved on from Dwayne Haskins as they drafted D'Eriq King a Clone of RGIII which should bode Coach Newmoon001 well. If he Falters however Big Ben Roethlisberger was brought in as a veteran insuarance policy to right the ship.

Notable Players:

  • Chase Young
  • Montez Sweat
  • Terry McLaurin

Dallas Cowboys 3-13 Headcoach Raw_Diaw

The Dallas Cowboys at 3-13 a year ago was head scratching to say the least. With a roster full of talent the Cowboys were expected to make a deep post season run. However lack of faith in Dak Prescott made them trade him to the Detroit Lions, and move up to select Justin Fields out of Ohio State. Fields should give the Cowboys offense another element that could take this team over the top, however it is incumbent on their coach Raw_diaw to get a little more innovative in place of the run on first down, throw it deep on 2nd, and 3rd. If the Cowboys can get it together they could be fighting for a playoff spot at seasons end.

Notable Players:

  • Ezekiel Elliott
  • Noah Fant
  • Amari Cooper
  • CeeDee Lamb
  • Zack Martin
  • Tyron Smith

Philadelphia Eagles 3-13 Headcoach Melblaze3521

The Philadelphia Eagles ended the season with the leagues worst offense at 14ppg. A season of regression by Carson Wentz, and one of the older teams in the league could spell a long road to being competitive this Madden. Coach Melblaze will need to refine his offense, and although he runs hurry up somehow has the slowest offensive system in the league.

Notable Players:

  • Fletcher Cox
  • Jason Kelce
  • Brandon Brooks
  • Carson Wentz

NFASL Madden 21 season II kickoff

The NFASL is Back!  The New Season is upon us, and right now there are 32 teams all feeling like they have, a chance at winning the Next big game. Of course we all know that in the end there is only one team, that gets to hang their banner in the most glorious Hall of Champions!  Last season it was the Green Bay Packers dominating the regular season with a 14-2 recordd, the best in the conference. Their headcoach Deuce4975 hung his first banner in the Hall Of Champions in only his first year in the League! With a team stacked out the box, this could be the first of many for the New Coach. Last season was a blur with the League moving to a 48 hour advancemen, something that I thought I never thought I'd See. However as resistant to change that I am, when something makes sense I don't fight against the rising tide.  The League each season gets better, and better, and this one should be no different.

There were plenty of Changes in the Off-season with Staples of the League Retiring like Drew Brees, or Adrian Peterson. Big Ben Roethlisberger released from the Steelers after leading them to the Super Bowl a year ago, or Tom Brady Relegated to 2nd on the Depth Chart behind rookie from Arkansas Feleipe Franks.

The Off-Season brought about some major changes as well as Dak Prescott was traded to the Detroit Lions in a Mega Deal that saw them move up for spots in the draft to select Ohio States Justin Fields.  The Cowboys were not done as they sent Michael Gallup to the Atlanta Falcons for their 1st round Draft Pick. Patrick Peterson, and Marcus Gilbert were traded to the Chargers for Hunter Henry and Picks. Matthew Ioanidis, and Ryan Kerrigan were both traded to the Bills, The Chargers and the Jaguars were involved in a trade that sent Justin Jackson to the Jaguars, and Andrew Norwell to the Chargers. The Dolphins accumulated pick, after pick then Parlayed that into what many think will be the Dallas Cowboys Offensive line from the 90s. There were many, many more moves that will be touched on later this week, as Team Previews will be released on the website.

The new Season is here, Things are moving full speed ahead, so lets have a good fun season with all 32 members remaining from the start. Of all the things that I want for this league is for each and every member to stay, and enjoy the good, and bad times.

   Packers Send Bears into Hibernation!

Green Bay, WS. Lambeau Field. Rivalry Game! In the NFASL Kick Off Game the Chicago Bears Took on Division Rival the Green Bay Packers as the Packers Received their Banner to be hung into the Hall of Champions for all time! The Packers did not disappoint the home crowd as they started out slow, but crushed the Bears in the end by a score of 49-16. The Chicago Bears had the #1 Draft pick in the League after a tumultous season a year ago, one that saw them go 2-14 on the season. With coach Jady_Tru being a 4 time Super Bowl Winner many were screaming bloody murder as it was apparent that they were tanking for the Golden Boy Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson! The Bears didn't flinch however as when the Draft rolled around they did what many expected and drafted the best Quarterback Prospect since Dan Marino.

In his first Action Lawrence showed why he was drafted #1 overall as for a least a half he went toe to toe with Future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Lawrence finished the game with 280yards, on 22/37 passing with 1 touchdown, and 2 ints. Those interceptions were back breaking for the Bears as the Packers converted them both into scores blowing the game open in the 2nd half. Packers corner Back Kevin King accounted for both interceptions, taking one 51 yards for 6. The Bears headcoach didn't do Lawrence any favors as the Bears only rushed 28 yards as Cordarelle Patterson converted WR carried the Ball 6 times for a total of 8 yards. The other 20 Yards were from Lawrence who scrambed twice, for 20 yards.

The Packers were lead by Super Star Quarterback Aaron Rodgers as he was simply incredible throwing for 242 yards, and 4 touchdowns in the win. His Favorite Target was Davante Adams the Leagues most prolific pass catcher a season ago hauled in 6 for 94 Yards, and 2 touchdowns in the win. With Adams running wild in the Bears Secondary, Aaron Jones was able to Gash the Bears on the ground for 121 yards, and 1 touchdown on just 15 carries, 8.1 yards per.

The Bears will take on the Rams in Week 2, and hope not to acquiant Lawrence with Aaron Donald too many times. The Packers will look to make it two in a row as they take on another Division rival the New Look Detroit Lions with arguably one of the best secondaries in the game.

The new season is upon us, every team has a chance to win, and optimism is renewed!  Until next time this has been a Sim Athletics Network Production.

Deuce4975   XXXVII

On October 11th, 2020 the Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XXXVII on Madden 21 (PS4)! The Coach of the Team was Deuce4975 who won his first Super Bowl, and did it in dominating fashion going 14-2 on the season. Not to mention Coach Deuce4975's first season! The Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-22 coached by Hac_3443 playing in his first super Bowl. The MVP was Strong Safety Adrian Amos whos pick 6 was a major role in the Packers win. Congratulations on your Super Bowl Win!

AFC/NFC Race for the playoffs

The league is as week 12, which is a good time to start honing in on the Race to the playoffs in each conferences. Right now the only undefeated team in the league are the New England Patriots sitting at a perfect 10-0. If the Playoffs were to start right now the Patriots would have the only Bye Week, as the league offices in their great wisdom added an extra Wildcard spot making home field advantage just that much more important. It's not every day that the league does something that makes sense, but this is surely one of them. Adding the extra playoff spot gives a ton more teams an opportunity late in the season to keep striving especially in a league of parity. It also forces the teams at the top to keep their foot on the gas so they don't lose their Bye Week, as well as their Coveted Home field advantage.

In the NFC If the Playoffs started today:

  1. West - Seattle Seahawks 8-2
  2. North -  Green Bay Packers 8-2
  3. East - New York Giants 7-3
  4. South - Atlanta Falcons 7-3
  5. Wildcard - Arizona Cardinals 7-3
  6. Wildcard - San Francisco 49ers 7-3
  7. Wildcard - Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-4

Right now in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks lead the way in the NFC West with a 8-2 record, and would have the Bye, and homefield if the Playoffs started today. It's no wonder as they have Russell Wilson playing at a MVP Caliber, with a sixth sense ability to get the ball to D.K. Metcalf in the Redzone as he is 2nd in the league in receiving Touchdowns with 10. They Seahawks can't rest on their laurels However as the Green Bay Packers are but a mere percentage point behind them. The Packers can easily see a plan how in the next few weeks could see themselves as top dog in the conference, not to mention leading the way in the North. A healthy Aaron Rodgers, a dominant running back in Aaron Jones, and a defense that has Kenny CLark, Za'Darius Smith, and Shutdown corner Jaire Alexander cannot be overlooked. The New York Football Giants are once again on top of the NFC East, handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley at a 70% Clip. Barkley is #1 for the MVP Race, and leads the league in rushing with with 1,620yards, and 21 touchdowns. In the South the Atlanta Falcons are on top with a 7-3 record but it is dangerously close in the South as they are only up 1 game in the Division. The Wildcard spots, are just that. Absolutely Wild. The Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers still have designs on the Seahawks spot in the West, as they are only a game back. However if they are unable to catch them, they can't be for certain that their position is safe as they are now. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, are both 7-4, with the Buccs in possession of the 3rd, and final Wildcard spot. Also the Minnesota Vikings are 6-4, and find themselves in a damn near must win in week 12 as they are paired up against the Carolina Panthers in a game that has huge Playoff ramifications.

In the AFC if the playoffs started today:

  1. East - New England Patriots 10-0
  2. South - Tennessee Titans 8-2
  3. West - Kansas City Chiefs 7-3
  4. North - Pittsburgh Steelers - 7-3
  5. Wildcard - Baltimore Ravens - 6-4
  6. Wildcard - Buffalo Bills 6-4
  7. Wildcard - Los Angeles Chargers - 6-4

The New England Patriots are 10-0, and lead the East, as well as would have Homefield advantage if the playoffs were to begin today. The Patriots are doing it were no one thought they could, however with a Defense that is lockdown, and Sony Michel leading the league in rushing Touchdowns at 21 the Patriots are the most dangerous team in the league. With the Patriots being 10-0 the Tennessee Titans will be playing in Wildcard weekend unless the Patriots hit the equivalent of a landmine. In Years Past the Titans would be prepping for a first round bye, however those days are just that. Gone Past. The Titans lead the south by handing the Ball off to Freight train of a back Derrick "John" Henry, and Defenses are paying the price. In the West Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes are on top with the greatest offense the league has ever seen. With Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Mecole Hardman trying to put a cover on this boiling pot is nigh impossible. The Steelers lead the North with an aging Big Ben Roethlisberger. Headcoach Hac3443 would love nothing more than to get his team one more chip before Big Ben Rides off into the Sunset. Good thing he has all the metrics one would need as they have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Cameron Heyward, and a slew of other players all good where you need to be to make a great post-season run.

Just like in the NFC the Wildcard is just that. Wild. Anytime 6 time Hall of Fame participant Tommanowns is in the Wildcard you know it's going to be bananas. Right now 3 teams are tied for the final 3 playoff spots all with 6-4 records. Those teams are the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and the Los Angeles Chargers. All 3 teams are expecting a tough way to go down the stretch as seemingly every game will be meaningful. The Bengals are a percentage point out at 6-4, while the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, are both 5-5. Teams with a punchers chance are the Las Vegas Raiders, and Indianapolis Colts at 4-6

NFASL Mid Season report

ESPN Breaking News NFASL Weekly Hosted by Tommanowns, & e30zack has kicked off, and can be found in the Audio Vault on Discord if you ever miss an episode!

On this edition of ESPNEWS It's Week 8, the 1/2 mark of the Season and it's time to look at what's going on in the NFASL. With Major changes this year to personell, and major moves in terms of coaches coming in, Year one of the NFASL is always crazy! Guess what this year is no different! Several Moves have been made for season 2 with some major players playing out their contract in their respective cities. With 7 teams making the playoffs this year, a chance for a Wildcard team doing some major damage in the Post-Season is more feasible than ever. Right now some of the Major players have fell off, and the a few new comers are showing their mettle. The League is full steam ahead, with X-Factor. Something I thought I'd never relent to, however I'm always listening to reason. My Lieutenants made a case, and so far so good. I do already forsee some major problems coming forward, however the Die is set, and now it is, what it is.

The Discord Application has been one of my favorite additions this year. The Organization is what I like about it, which helps me keep everyone informed. The Days of I didn't know are over. If you don't know now, it's because you truly don't give a F***.  With that said the Nickel 3-3-5 has been BANNED as it has become the YouTube Meta Defense Shutting down Passing attacks with only a few controller adjustments. It also does just enough against the run where you are forced to pass just simply based on dice rolls. Any One size fits all defense, is most likely going to be banned, so adding them to the league only hurts you in the long run.

At the Halfway point teams are starting to distance themselves from the pack, however it's still early. Taking a more realistic approach to this game will help some of these teams immensely. Especially if you have one of the more talented teams in the Game if you're throwing Interceptions like they are Bell Bottoms Jeans in the 70's you are not paying attention to the game. Actually thinking about a gameplan, picking a play to set up another play, or simply saying Hey this game is over, I lost, live to fight another day. I cannot stress that enough. I don't get the benefit of throwing 7 interceptions in the hope of getting one more meaningless Touchdown....

Lets take a look at the Conferences in the NFASL, and see how things are shaking out.

American Football Conference

    AFC North

  • Pittsburgh Steelers 5-2 W-3
  • Baltimore Ravens 5-2 L-1
  • Cincinatti Bengals 5-2 W-2
  • Cleveland Browns 3-5 L-3

AFC South

  • Tennessee Titans 6-0 W-6
  • Jacksonville Jaguars 3-3 L-1
  • Indianapolis Colts 2-5 W-1
  • Houston Texans 1-6 L-6

AFC East

  • New England Patriots 7-0 W-7
  • Buffalo Bills 5-3 L-2
  • New York Jets 2-6 L-1
  • Miami Dolphins 1-6 L-1

AFC West

  • Los Angeles Chargers 5-2 W-4
  • Kansas City Chiefs 5-3 W-2
  • Las Vegas Raiders 3-4 W-2
  • Denver Broncos 2-5 L-3

In the AFC the The Patriots are the Top Dog with a perfect 7-0 record behind one of the most loaded secondaries in the game featuring 99 overall shutdown Corner Stephon Gilmore. Not to mention a solid Run game, Cam Newton at Quarterback, and a Super Bowl Winning coach in SleepingKnapp and the Patriots are becoming a serious Super Bowl Contender. The Titans are right behind them, at 6-0, and will be looking to take their record to 7-0 with a win in week 8 against a Bengals team that is on the rise. The Titans are doing it on defense, as they have the leagues 2nd ranked defense only giving up 20ppg where teams are regularly giving up 50. The Titans also have a battering ram of a running back of Derrick Henry who wails on teams until they submit.  Their coach ChocoRainReubz is in his second stint here in the NFASL, and looks like he is here to stay.

There are a few teams of note in the first 8 games that are worth mentioning. One of those teams are the Los Angeles Chargers leading the AFC West with a 5-2 record. They find themselves on a 4 game winning streak, Leading that division with the Chiefs featuring one of the most difficult to defend teams is nothing to sneeze at. The Ravens with 6 time Super Bowl Winning coach Tommanowns is 5-2, and of course are one of the most dangerous teams in the league. However a week 7 loss to their division rival the Pittsburgh Steelers may have signaled the arrival of coach Hac3443. The Steelers are also 5-2, and find themselves on a 3 game winning streak.  In Fact that entire Division is tight with the Bengals 5-2 with #1 Draft Pick showing the poise of a veteran, and the Cleveland Browns 3-5. The Browns have lost 3 in a row, but with a lineup consisting of some of the best players in the league they should right the ship soon enough.

For every Yin, there is a Yang and in the AFC I have to say to see some of these teasm struggle is surprising. The Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Jets, and Broncos have a combined 8 wins in Week 8. Now I'm no math Wiz, but that don't add up. Seeing teams struggle out the gate is hard to fathom especially for some of the long term members, who knows the ropes are unacceptable.  It's still early so a few of these teams should try to make a run, however we will see.

National Football Conference

In the NFC there are no undefeated teams, however the next best thing is to have 1 loss. There are two teams that have that distinction and they are the Seattle Seahawks, and Green Bay Packers. Both teams are 6-1, and coming off of impressive wins in week 8. The Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers complete with smack talk, cheating accusations, backed up with Video Evidence, and most assuredly a stern talking to from Commissioner Newmoon, to Coach Kaliko420. The Packers defeated Division Rival, and their closest competitor the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers look like they will be coming out of the North, another one of the Leagues Newest Users. Always exciting to see new users kick in the front door, and make a name for themselves. The North is a division I thought would be one of the most competitive in this rendition of Madden, however the South, or West may just take that home with the Cardinals having a 5-2 record, and making some dangerous trades.

The South has 3 new owners, and with the Saints being the only team struggling. However I've seen coach PantherAlumni74 play, and I think he will figure things out. There's an old saying that goes it's not how you start, but how you finish.

Saquon Barkley is coming off of breaking, nay shattering the all time single game rushing record after Sony Michel Broke it a week prior. However at 431 yards Barkley's record should be safe from now until eternity. That run game could take the Giants, and their headcoach all the way, as The-KiiD-KennY is looking to get his first ever banner in the Hall of Champions. The NFC Least as Tommanowns calls it has pretty much become a laughing stock. Owners with 90 overall rated teams tank in week 1, and the Eagles are still trying to get his footing in the league, but I digress.

Team Statistics: In the NFL the teams with the best stats normally have the best seasons. This year is no different. It takes every aspect of a team to win games, and while you can have one do well and not the other  over a full season it will show and prove in your final win loss record. So far the tops in the league are those we are about to show here. Let's take a look.

Madden 21 NFASL Kickoff Weekend

The NFASL is Back!!!!! The New Season is upon us, and right now there are 32 teams all feeling like they have a more than good chance at winning Super Bowl XXXVII! The Reigning champ is no longer with us, as straight out of YouTube offenses, and MUT has no place in the NFASL! That "S" stands for "Simulation" not "Sham". This league is about playing a realistic brand of Football, so even winning it all to lose your spot in the Worlds greatest league is a pyrrhic victory if I ever saw one. However enough about that, let's talk about the year ahead! With Covid-19 throwing the whole damn world for a loop, cancelling sports, live events, and anything that makes life, life I'm glad to have the Madden season to bring some normality back to us. Coach RawDiaw complainng after every loss, Kaliko Rapid fire texts, Tomman winning Chips, and Moon Pimp'N.

The League will not look the same as we added several new owners to make their mark. It seems every year someone new, kicks down the damn doors of the Hall of Champions, forcing us long time members to scratch our heads. Not to mention some old faces in New Places with Tom Brady throwing passes in Tampa, and Cam Newton in New England..... If those are not sure signs of the Apocalypse I don't know what is.

The league is a well run machine, and only gets better every year. Although I would like to take all the credit, I know that this is truly a symbiotic society. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, so us working in unison makes this league what it is. Coach JD, and Shooter are once again my top Lieutenants, and I appreciate all they do. Good Luck to all in the up and coming season, and Lets make this season the best one yet!

Kick Off Game

Madden 21

Miami Dolphins (0-0)            New England patriots (0-0)

                    The NFASL is Back!

Foxborough, MA. No better way to start the 37th NFASL season with one the leagues classic rivalries, Coach Atk vs Jerms!. This Rivalry has been dominated by Coach ATK, and the New England Patriots, but The Dolphins are retooled, and are hoping this Madden season is different. Thomas Wayne Brady is no longer throwing passes in Foxborough, as he now resides in Florida, for his more senior moments. In a move that shocked the Football World Superman Cam Newton was brought in to take over the job vacated by the GOAT. With a Defense that gives opposing offenses nightmares, headlined by 99 overall Stephon Gilmore, The McCourty Twins, Dont'a hightower, and a Dominant offensive line the Patriots are set to win right now.

The Dolphins are built a little differently, and are young, very young headlined by the 5th pick in the Draft Tua Tagovailoa. Tua is tasked with uplifting an enitre franchise that has not seen glory since the days of Dan Marino. Pressure bursts pipes, and creates diamonds as the saying goes, which one will happen in this case is the question. The New season is upon us, the Rules have been updated, the Kickoff Game is scheduled, an a rIDE-open receiver in the endzone, the play even turned into a meme featuring Kaliko’s crying face.e last 8 seasons and Coach Atk will have to adjust his game p

Patriots key players of the game:

  • Stephon Gilmore - Stephon Gilmore has cemented himself as the best corner of the game, and will be assigned to DeVante Parker all night long. With Gilmore able to shut down the opposing players best receiver, and get his hands on the ball when you do test him the Patriots Defense is nothing short of Lethal.
  • Cam Newton - When you feel King Kong shoes, you best not try to run a marathon first. Cam Newton will be in that position as he has a solid team around him, and will be tasked as being a game manager for lack of a better word. That doesn't mean he won't make a play or 3, as you don't get the moniker as Superman baking bread.

Dolphins key players of the game:

  • Tua Tagovailoa - When you make your first start of your career you would hope that isn't against a team that went 12-4, and has won more Super Bowls than you have been playing football. Tua Tagovailoa is going to find out real fast that the NFL stands for Not For Long as things move quickly in this League. If the Dolphins win this game it will be because he limited the turnovers.
  • Matt Breida - The speed that Breida Brings to the table will be useful in a game such as this as the Patriots are not the fastest team in the league. Expect a heavy dose as the Dolphins may find life difficult throwing the ball through the air.

Maddenrox9   XXXVI

On March 26th, 2020 the Houston Texans won Super Bowl XXXVI Madden 20 PS4! The Coach of the Team was Maddenrox9 who won his second Super Bowl, with a record of 13-3 on the season. The Texans defeated the 14-2 Green Bay Packers coached by spyversusspy by a score of 24-23. The MVP was Middle Linebacker Tuf Borland who finished with just 3 tackles, and a interception. However 2 of his 3 tackles were on 4th, and 1, and he also had a pick 6, 51 yard interception return that was integral for the Texans to win.  Congratulations on your Super Bowl Win!

NFASL Welcome Letter Madden 21

of the NFASL!

On this edition of ESPNEWS Commissioner Newmoon will speak about the state of the league the National Football All Simulation League (NFASL) in it's Now 37th Season of Madden.

      Every year a new Madden comes out with a new sense of optimism, and hope, and guess what this year is no different. Madden 21 has been released worldwide on August 28th, 2020, and the League will officially Kick off on September 4th, 2020 @ 6am EST.  This Madden will be unlike any other that I can remember as we have the most new members that I can ever recall joining in one off-season. Those member are;

  • Detroit Lions - Hitsquad954
  • Green Bay Packers - Deuce4975
  • Minnesota Vikings - Jojogolive247
  • New Orleans Saints - PantherAlumni74
  • Carolina Panthers - Manny_ThaDon
  • Atlanta Falcons - PrimtiveMind
  • Houston Texans - MM-X_Factor88
  • Tennesse Titans - ToDrip-_-
  • Los Angeles Chargers - stefmoney08*

Every single one of these members have been vetted by me, and are not only good players, but good people. In the 9 years of running this league, I learned a few lessons along the way, and these new members are an accumulation of those lessons.

This should be the best season ever with major things happening in the League, IE; With SportIVation getting better with every episode, and Tomman trying to produce NFASL Weekly. The NFASL Weekly is a Podcast discussing the league, games, who's hot, who's not, featuring guests, etc...  JD's Sports book now in it's second Madden season which was a rousing success, to Shooters absolute zero contribution and it's starting to feel a lot like Madden season!  Also how can I forget to mention Discord! Goddamn I love the order of that App! My prowess on photoshop is getting exceedingly better daily, and the ability to write stories on the go, along with top notch graphics really helps set this league apart from the dreck that is out there.

The New Advancement schedule should make a few of you happy as we are finally going to a 48 hour advancement period. I could not figure out a way to make 48 works for what I need to do, but came up with a sneaky way to help me, while keeping the league moving. I moved the advancement period to 6am est instead of 8pm est. which allows me to create graphics ahead of time because I always know when we are advancing, and gives a grace period in the morning to look over the stats, write articles, etc....

In Closing I want to say I'm glad you guys have continued on with the League, and expect this season to be the best one yet! I have always said that the NFASL is a symbiotic society, and it only works if we all work together in unison. At the bottom of the page are all 36 past Super Bowl winners. Some of those former champion even though they are forever etched into the Hall of Champions couldn't figure out how to maintain a spot in the Worlds greatest league! Doesn't matter how good you are if your entire gameplan can be found with a couple keystrokes on YouTube, if you're difficult to communicate with, if you're anbutthead in the chat stealing any fun that could be had in the league, to not following the most basic of rules, etc... I can't not stress this enough. Nothing in your life changes if you win it all, so why not just play for the love.

Also make sure you guys save those Soda cans, as the PS5 drops this year, and I think 1 or 2 of us will have to sell a kidney to get it!    I want to turn the floor over to my two Co-Commissioners, which are The-Kiid-Kenny, NFC Commissioner, and the NFC Commissioner Jady_Tru. If you have a problem with something in the league, and you are in either conference they will be more than helpful in sorting out your needs.

. .

Commissioners of the NFASL:

  • Newmoon001 - League Commissioner
  • Jady_Tru - AFC Commissioner
  • THE-KiiD-Kenny - NFC Commissioner

Commissioner of the AFC, Jady_Tru

  • JD-  Most of y'all already know how I,  and the NFC feels about the AFC. We feel you guys dish out more cheese than your local Olive Garden but that is neither here nor there. Moon has told me to be the AFC commissioner and with that I have to put my NFC bias aside and look at things fairly. And in all honesty yall kicked ourbutt last year, winning the superbowl battle 5-2. Since I have been here I've never seen a turnover quite like this in one off-season. 3 of the 5 superbowl winners from a madden ago are no longer here. As much as I dread drastic turnover, I got to admit this is going to make this Madden very interesting because I don't know who will be going into the Hall of Champions. 6 time SB winner Tommanowns is the clear favorite with his Baltimore Ravens led by Lamar Jackson, the closest thing to Madden 07 Michael Vic we have had. But outside of that it is wide open and I look forward to you guys battling it out. There are new NFASL members in the AFC using the Titans, Browns, Chargers, Texans. You guys can dm if you have any questions or ask other members around the league. I know it looks like a lot of rules but it's not as much as it seems. It basically comes down to just play simulation football: switch up your plays, punt when necessary and don't bring anything you learned from a MUT stream into the league. You follow those things along with contacting your opponent in a timely manner and you should be fine.
    Let's have a strong Madden 21 AFC!  .

Commissioner of the NFC, The-KiiD-Kenny

  • Shooter - First and foremost I would like to welcome the 9 new members to the best league madden has ever seen, the NFASL! This should be a fun Season, and year  as we wait on Next Gen to arrive. Once again my division is as easy as can be especially when you have the same 2 oldest people in the lg by about 50 years in your division. I expect this season to be fun I expect to lose in the first round of the playoffs again and I expect moon to be as bad as the actual Washington football team. I hope everyone has a great season and everyone has fun and just remember you won’t find a better lg ... if you do then KYS !

AFC Non-Tradeables Liste Madden 21

These are the list of players that cannot be traded from particular franchises. The purpose of this list is to ensure the integrity of the league, because I have learned over trial and error some league members can not help themselves when it comes to trades. Please be sure to adhere to the list before attempting to make a trade. This is a salary cap league, so making trades, then undoing trades can reek havoc on your ability to function moving forward. Also note that any player on this list may not be released from your team. The only Caveat to this list is if a player is in the last year of their contract. If that is the case you are allowed to trade any player on this list. * Co-Commissioner JD is the Steward of this list. If you have a problem with a player on the No Trade List  make your case with him. Until I hear otherwise this list is Ironclad*

Madden 20 End of the Season report

On this edition of ESPNEWS We Wrap up John Madden Football 2020 on the PS4. With the Football seaon over the League is now in the Off-Season, and on Summer Break. This is a good a time as any to get a broad overview of the league, and how it's owners did on this rendition of Madden. The AFC Dominated this Season of the NFASL winning 5 Super Bowls to 2 for the NFC.  League G.O.A.T. Tommanowns hung 2 more banners in the Hall of Champions Winning Super Bowls XXX, and XXXV with his Baltimore Ravens. Tommanowns now has more rings than he has fingers on one hand. 3 Year veteran ThePacificCowboy hung his first Banner in the Hall of Champions winning Super Bowl XXXI with the Jacksonville Jaguars. And Newly Minted Maddenrox9 won his second Super Bowl in 3 seasons with the Houston Texans hanging two banners as a new member. In the NFC 3 year headcoach EddieHendrixx won his third Super Bowl in the NFASL with the New Orleans Saints winner of Super Bowl XXXII. The Young Gun, and headcoach spyversusspy hung his 1st banner in the Hall of Champions winning Super Bowl XXXIII with which i'm sure are many more to come.

It's been a wild ride in the NFASL with some long time members leaving the league for a myriad of reasons. Jboc27 was the most senior member in the league save for me hung his cleats up. I think he forgot that moon if anything is fair, and sometimes does the least popular opinion based on facts, not feelings. 3 time Super Bowl winning coach EddieHendriix forgot the most important thing of all that no one man is above the league, not even me. I have been the commissioner in thid league for going on 9 years, and I dare anyone to name one time where I pull the because I said so card. I have not forgotten that this is a Symbiotic Society, and I need you guys, just as much as you need me. I'm not so arrogant to think that my poo doesn't stink. Not as bad as shooter's but still it smells...... A few owners along the way surprised me, and some didn't with sticking it out through another tough developement year of Madden. Coach DHontos, and raw_Diaw comes to mind in terms of pleasant surprise. However Guys like MRT, and Caesar hate the game, and the league apparently and always surprise me why the hell they want to comeback at the start of Madden. This game has been the same for 20 years, at some point you gotta say it is, what it is......   .

Before I get to the Conferences I want to give a Special Shoutout to my Two lieutenants Coach JD of the Chicago Bearsd, and Active Shooter for all their help this year in running the league. JD paid for Daddy Leagues, which helped immensely in helping make short blurbs for the chat, and put the league stats and whatnot at my fingertips on the go. They also helped fine tune a few rules that needed tweaking, and just generally kept the league moving at a consistent pace. We were able to get in 7 seasons which is a direct testiment to their hard work.

The NFC was dominated in terms of Win percentage wise by Coach Spyversusspy as he finished up with a 46-7 record, with 3 trips to the Super Bowl in which he was 1-2. He didn't make many fans along the way as his playstyle is very counter productive for a Sim league. The "S" in NFASL means Simulation. That means wer are actively trying to recreate what we see on Sunday. The reason he survived a million messages to get booted was simply my call, as he has potential, and is not a lost cause in my opinion. As he gets older, and he learns that these Banners don't mean anything without the respect of your peers I think he will shape up, or ship out like my dad used to say. Coach Shooter put up massive wins once again, but has now gone 8 years, and 36 seasons without hanging a banner in the Hall of Champions. Never mind the fact that he has had either the most Glitch Receiver in History, in Odell Beckham Jr. And now the Most Glitch Running back in History Saquon Barkley..... Of Course you can slip on a banana peel for a win or 2 in the playoffs but there ain't no banana peel 4 games long. The Bears were humbled this Madden not winning a Super Bowl, Hell he didn't even make one. Extra hard to take when the guy that humbles you looks like if you if he dated your sister you'd know her virginity was safe...... Melblaze did what Melblaze does what Melblaze does and that's go 13-99.... Coach Kaliko without the best team money could buy looked less than ordinary which calls into question his two banners hanging in the Hall of Champions.....But I digress. The NFC let me down this year, and hope that come madden 21 we get a better showing out it.

In the AFC The Baltimore Ravens, and the Houston Texans showed the rest of the Conference that they were not to be taken lightly as these two teams won 4 of the 5 Super Bowls that the AFC Won. Tommanowns with Lamar Jackson was unstoppable as his Defensive Prowess, and the Ravens Real life Organizational Skills makes that combo a goddamn Dead match! Equally tough for me as I'm 40 miles from that cesspool Baltimore however I root for the worst run Organization in Sports the Washington Redskins! KYS!!!!  The Texans won his first Super Bowl but learned exactly what I said earlier about the Packers. literally doesn't mean shit with the respect. You're not getting any money, the only thing left is being able to live with yourself. However just like the Packers Coach he still needs some fine tuning for this league, but he took major steps toward improving his "SIM" Game. That's all you can ask honestly. The AFC Showed out as they were the more dominant team this madden Season with several teams putting up some impressive numbers the Raiders with one of the worst teams in the league to start finished with a record of 68-44 those draft picks helped out though =) The Patriots made a trip to the Super Bowl and finished with 82 wins, and the Pittsburgh Steelers showing that the love of a good woman could not slow him down posted 72 wins on the season. The Jaguars won a Super Bowl, and garnered 64 wins, Not bad. the biggest disappointments in the AFC were the New York Jets, who still hasn't taken that next step in the league, although he's getting close. The Buffalo Bills Offensivedom took several steps back not making it to the Super bowl in a full rendition of Madden since I can remember. Hell he didn't even make the Playoffs!!!

The Lone Star!!

Super Bowl XXXVI. Miami, FL. Hard Rock Stadium  In the NFASL Super Bowl XXXVI The Houston Texans Garnered his Second Super Bowl in 3 years with a clutch performance that came down to the wire as they defeated the Green Bay Packers by a score of 24-23! The Game had every thing from comebacks, to safeties, to pick Sixes, and missed 4th down conversions. The Final season is always one of ill repute, but they count in the record books all the same. The AFC Dominated in this year of Madden hanging 5 banners in the Hall of Champions with Coach Maddenrox9 hanging two himself! In the game it was Kellen Mond outplaying 3 time straight League MVP Baker Mayfield in the Leagues biggest game. Kellen Mond acquired from the Carolina Panthers in a trade after letting DeShaun Watson go to the Atlanta Falcons was simply incredible during the game with many believing he should have been given Super Bowl MVP. Mond threw for 316 yards on 20/25 passes 80% completion Percentage, Two touchdowns, and only one interception. With Mond outdueling Baker the Texans won the time of possession 19:33 to 16:27 in favor of the winning team. Not to mention Mond being the teams leading rusher with 44yards on 10 carries that converted several key 3rd downs. The Texans also got contributions from 10 year pro Austin Hooper who hauled in 5 catches for 113 yards, and a touchdown. Will Fuller V grabbed 5 passes, for 63 yards and a touchdown. Keke Coutee pulled in 5, with Bru McCoy, and Aaron Jones grabbing 3, and 2 respectfully.

The Packers jumped out to a Early 7-0 lead in the First quarter, however the Texans came battling back like they have done all season long scoring the next 14 points. They went into halftime with a 14-14 tie, which meant the Biggest game of the year would come down to 2 quarters. The Packers were banking on the leagues MVP Baker Mayfield to pull a rabbit out of his hat, and he almost did. Baker was 21/33 passing throwing for 288 yards, and 3 touchdowns,, however he had 2 interceptions with one being late in the Redzone that would have tied the game. The Packers headcoach played fast and loose throughout the game and was 2-2 on 4th down conversions. The two that mattered the most however were both in the Redzone, and in a game that was shaping up to be Bank Vault tight turned out to be maybe some of the worst coaching decisions in leagues history. The Packers have a history of taking chances in the Super Bowl and could arguably be a 3 time champ if he had played it a little more close to the vest. However there is a saying that goes you gotta risk it, for the biscuit, and the Packers have taken that to heart!

The Houston Texans were coached by Maddenrox9, and will write his name into the Hall of Champions to be forever remembered as the Team to win Super Bowl XXXVI, the final Season on Madden 20!

Lets have a conversation with Super Bowl XXXVI winner Coach Maddenrox9:

  • You won Super Bowl XXXVI! What was your gameplan Going in??

My Gameplan going in was to hit him with plays he hasn't seen yet, and do my best to contain his offense. I knew that if my defense could hold we could win a ring, and that's exactly what we did!

  • On two occasions with you up 3, and Packers in Field goal range they opted to go for 7 in place of points. How did you stop them?

I took a risk by betting on the fact that he would run considering he had only a yard to go. I committed to stopping the run, and obviously it worked.

  • Middle Linebacker Tuf Borland 5th year pro out of Ohio State wearing J.J. Watts #99 garnered MVP of Super Bowl XXXVI, how did he do it?

He Took advantage of the opportunity laid out for him, and it worked out pretty well as he put a much needed touchdown on the board. If he didn't get that pick Six we may of not won so it was an important play.

  • You have won now Super Bowls XXXIV, and XXXVI in the worlds greatest league! How does this one feel in comparison?

This one feels immensely better because I lost to the Packers before in a Super Bowl in a close game. Ever since then I have not gotten the Chance to pay him back until now!

  • You're the Super Bowl XXXVI Champ, the floor is yours. Is there anything you want to say to the rest of the League?

I just wanna acknowledge how great this league is, and how much fun it has been for everyone in it. It is a very active, and organized league, and I have not seen a better run one. I had a great time competing in all these seasons. There were many obstacles during my journey in this league which makes this moment all the better. It was a great run in Madden 20, and I can't wait until we get things rolling again, and start a new Journey in Madden 21!

Commissioners Newmoons thoughts:

      Wrapping up a Madden Season is always bitter Sweet, and this one is no different. This has been my 9th Year running the Madden Leagues which started way back in 2011, and I can tell you each iteration of Madden has had it's fair share of issues. Madden 20 has not been an outlier, and will go down as a middle of the road experience for me on a personal level. I do see so much potential in Madden, that I think that's why I have been so unhappy with this one. The Drastic sllider change was definitely needed, and I think it helped with the realism, somewhat. However losing some guys along the way that always forget that the NFASL is a symbiotic society, and not about them will always be the un-fun parts as a commissioner. No man is above the league, not even me. 1/32 as my saying goes, a cog in the Wheel.  I hope that as you read this you guys understand that my job as commissioner is not to keep you happy, but to make sure the league is functional, playable, and fun. Hell at the end of the day it's a F-ing Videogame, and if playing games isn't fun what's the point? That's why I really hate all the complaining that goes on in the chat. It takes the fun away in my opinion, and literally sets a bad precedent for new members. I'd like to qoute a few members before I sign off for the last time on Madden 20;

Raiders Coach e30zack -  "I've never been so excited for the end of madden lol it was an absolute awesome addition to have the real draft classes this time around, but hopefully next madden is better football hhaha yeah right we can hope, anyway glad to be a part of a great long standing league boys, to many more seasons of us cussing out the game instead of blaming ourselves amen."

Cowboys Cowboy Raw_Diaw -  "Until Next Madden it's been real you goons. Hopefully this Virus pass, and we get our new systems on time"

In any regard I'd like to thank Commissioner JD for the fine work he did in helping to keep the league running at a fast pace, and paying for Daddy Leagues which made my job easier with writing blurbs for the Chat. The battles in the Commissioners chat were legendary, and even though he won a few rounds my sound logic took the day most times =)

Thanks to Active-_Shooter for doing practically nothing, however I llike to use shooter as a sounding board. Ten times out of Ten if he is on the "A" side of an issue, I automatically know that "B" is the right choice. So even though he is as useless as a straw in a land of no lips he someone manages to contribute purely accidental of course.

It's been a pleasure running the NFASL for now it's 8th year, and I hope you guys know I never do anything without thought. As always God Speed in your future endeavors, see you guys in Madden 21!

NFASL State of the League

of the NFASL!

On this edition of ESPNEWS Commissioner Newmoon will speak about the state of the league in it's Now 36th Season of Madden, of the NFASL!  This Madden, Madden 20 in my opinion like I have said on previous occasions is one the series best. However the flaws that it does have are truly magnified, because you can see the potential in the game. However Shoddy Artificial intelligence, Coupled with YouTube has rendered the game almost unplayable on our current sliders. That knowledge has forced my hand to create a slider set that is more dynamic, and should help keep the league going for the 10 seasons that I intend. A drastic move no doubt, but when I look at the stats of past seasons I know that it had to be done. In the real world the Seasons best passing Yardage mark is 2013 Peyton Manning 5,467yards. In our league 10 people have already broke that record with the high mark being 6,863 yards, shared by two quarterbacks........Same goes for Receiving yards. In the NFL Calvin Johnson put up 1,964 yards in 2012 He would not even rank in our league as the High Mark is 2,557 yards, and the low mark being 2009. Johnson a all time great doesn't even rank.... The Final straw being passing TDs in a season, that tops out at a whopping 80.....In the Real world  Peyton Manning put up 55 in 2013. In our league that has already been eclipsed 6 times......... Something had to be done. A slider set built around hopefully forcing these teams to get rid of the ball, and to stop the YouTube Plays all built around time in the pocket. For example: in 2002 David Carr was sacked 76 times in a single season, and the teams record was 4-12. Vinny Testaverde in 1988 threw 35 interceptions in a single season and their record was 5-11. However in the NFASL we have a team that where the Quarterback was sacked 92 times in one season, destroying the record of 76, and in that same season threw 28 interceptions 7 off the mark of one of the worst thrown interceptions seasons of all time. Except what do you think the teams record was?  15-1........Let that sink in before you even think that a slider change was not needed.

Slider Changes:

  • Quarterback Accuracy - 55
  • Wide Receiver Catching - 75
  • Pass Blocking - 15
  • Computer Interception - 10

Here is the reasoning behind the slider change. It all starts with Pass blocking being dropped to 15. That is the baseline of the entire Slider Change. Pass rush is hopefully pumped up to the point where users look pre snap, and post snap for the one on one match ups, as well as the open receivers. Instead of picking a YouTube play and letting it develop based on the games Shoddy AI. Cover 3 beaters, Cover 4 Beaters, etc..... are all based around time in the pocket because no matter what based on certain coverages the CPU controlled players follow a linear pre determined path no matter what...... So if you already know what the CPU player is going to do it doesn't matter if you are sacked 92 times in a season. It doesn't matter if you throw 7 less interceptions of one of the all time records...... It truly becomes a game of animations.

I'm not a sadist however, so that means if I pump up the pass rush, I have to create a balance where the receivers get more animations in 1-1 situations instead of the other way around. Moving the needle up on catches means that the Defense now has to play position, and swat ball mechanics on defense, because Quarterbacks can throw in tighter windows. On the old slider set those tighter window throws could not be made because 9 times out of 10 even though you have both hands on the ball that ball will be tipped up, creating a tip drill easy interception.

The hope is with the slider changes teams open up their playbooks creating a more dynamic game of football that resembles more of what we see on Sunday, instead of a MUT Championship. Will there be push back, of course. Change is resisted, no matter what it is. I expect that. However most members of the league have a "me" view of the league, where I have a overall what's best for the league view. I don't want to create a long wall of Text, so I will save some of my other thoughts for the next Owners meeting.
